Department of Surgical Disease

Department of Surgical Disease combines following fields: general and minimally invasive endoscopic surgery, surgical oncology, gynecology, thoracic and head-neck-surgery, mammography, skin, soft tissues and bones surgical oncology, proctology, metabolic surgery, traumatology and orthopedics, urology, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, pediatric surgery and neurosurgery.

An experienced group of specialists and modern equipment ensures an open and laparoscopic operations conducted at the highest level. Hospital standouts with its concentration on surgical treatments of particularly difficult patients; complex and large-scale operations are frequently conducted.

Outpatient-Diagnostic department

Outpatient-Diagnostic department consists of the following areas: clinical laboratory, pathomorphology, cytology, radiology (X-ray, ultrasound), endoscopy, functional diagnostics. The Department is offering diagnostic imaging services, as well as a variety of therapeutic procedures, both for inpatient, and outpatient treatment.

Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Emergency Medicine

Department serves as the recipient of the University Hospital. It comprises of emergency medicine, anesthesiology, and critical care services. The Department is equipped with the latest medical equipment and serves patients who have acute or emergency situations, as well as a wide range of diseases – cardiovascular and neurovascular, emergency cases, severe respiratory disorders, trauma and others.

M. Abeloff’s Clinical Oncology Department

The Department is equipped with the latest technology and offers to its patient, innovative methods for the cancer treatment. Medical treatments for solid malignant tumors and lymphoma are also available through the department, including – chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immune and targeted therapies in neoadjuvant, adjuvant and palliative regimes. Treatment is conducted in outpatient as well as inpatient settings. Clinical oncology department utilized CCDRT methodology – Cell Culture Drug Resistance Testing which enables direct highly selective anticancer chemotherapy.

Department of Internal Medicine

Department of Internal Medicine incorporates therapy, cardiology, along with neurological and endocrinological directions. Department offers patients treatment for chronic and acute diseases.

Summary

  

 

Southampton where, as an MRC Training Fellow, he did his PhD under Professor Sir George Alberti.  His work at that time investigated metabolic disturbances in liver disease and metabolic aspects of endocrinology. He moved to Newcastle where he was First Assistant to Professor Reg Hall.  He subsequently obtained a Wellcome Senior Clinical Research Fellowship, investigating metabolism in diabetes.
