The University is announcing a literary competition to create an original work in the detective genre. Anyone can participate in the competition. The aim of the competition is to promote the development of the detective genre in Georgia and to arouse interest in it in the general public. The works approved by the jury will be published in the university publishing house, it is possible to integrate them in the educational process, and the script will be the basis for the film.

The following nominations are provided to encourage participants:
• „Detective of the Year" - 3000 GEL;
• „Best Character" - 2500 GEL;
• „Best story" - 2500 GEL.

According to the competition regulations, the paper must be submitted in Georgian and exceed 8000 words. The deadline for submission of works is May 25, 2021.

  1. The aim of the literary competition is to promote the detective genre in Georgian literature.
  2. The competition is annual, it starts on January 1st and ends on June 1st.
  3. The competition will award prizes in the following nominations:
  • Best Detective Works of the Year;
  • Best character;
  • The original story.
  1. The winning authors, along with a special award, will be awarded cash prizes by New Vision University.
  2. The competition jury consists of 3 members. The composition of the jury includes writers and writers whose works will not be considered for competition this year. The jury has no chairman. The winner will be announced by secret ballot after receiving at least 2 votes.
  3. The members of the jury have the right to award the cash prize for the nomination to two different authors nominated for the same nomination.
  4. The composition of the jury is strictly confidential during the competition. Their identities are revealed at the awards ceremony. The identity of the jury is known only to the moderators of the jury. 
  5. It is not allowed to have the same person in the jury for three years in a row. 
  6. The jury member is obliged to maintain confidentiality and keep secret the information about the work of the jury; 
  7. The jury will consider all authors and texts submitted to the competition equally and objectively;
  8. The decision of the jury is final and is not subject to appeal. 
  9. Only original works written in Georgian, which have not been previously published in full or in part, in electronic or printed form, will be accepted for the competition.
  10. It is a requirement that the plot takes place in Georgia and that the characters of the story are living in Georgia. Time period and epoch are not defined.
  11. The deadline for submission of works is May 1.
  12. The competition must be submitted in the form of an electronic file, in A4 format, in 11 font size, with an automatic distance of not less than 8000 words.
  13. The competition works will be accepted by e-mail: detective@old.newvision.ge where it is necessary to indicate the author's name, surname, date of birth, telephone and address.
  14. The winning works in the nominations are covered by the copyright of New Vision University.


On June 26, the winners of the literary competition "Detective of the Year" were awarded at the New Vision University Eco-Capmus.

A total of 109 works were submitted to the competition, out of which they met the competition conditions and 87 of them passed to the next stage. 21 works were selected for the second stage.
 
The jury announced the winners according to the nominations:
Best Detective of the Year - Irakli Makharadze "Two Rabbits Made";
Original story - Tinatin Tolordava "Where is Berta going", Olani Bitsadze "Untitled detective, ie no hints in advance";
The best character - Nino Chincharauli "Anonymous".
 
The organizing group continues to work to prepare for next year’s competition.

Southampton where, as an MRC Training Fellow, he did his PhD under Professor Sir George Alberti.  His work at that time investigated metabolic disturbances in liver disease and metabolic aspects of endocrinology. He moved to Newcastle where he was First Assistant to Professor Reg Hall.  He subsequently obtained a Wellcome Senior Clinical Research Fellowship, investigating metabolism in diabetes.
