This program is primarily designed to offer a multifaceted knowledge in business management. Students will build professional competence, gain knowledge and practical skills in management, finance, accounting, marketing and business communications. Graduates of the program will possess competencies that are applicable for responsible managerial roles in a variety of settings.

The program aims to develop students into broadly educated business managers, executives and/or entrepreneurs. Completion of the course means that a student develops knowledge, skills and values needed for successful implementation and management of managerial/entrepreneurial activities in line with the requirements of the complex business environment and labor market.

The program intends to teach students to understand the nature and structure of organizations and to contribute both support and leadership in the development of skill sets.

A rigorous foundation of core courses offers students with solid background in diverse areas of business/management, social science, and communication broadening their understanding of given areas and their sub-fields. The core courses are offered alongside the program and enable students to apply their knowledge and skills (theoretical and practical), to the prospective employment destinations either in large/small organizations or in entrepreneurial activities. The program enhances the development of both research and managerial/practical skills through employed teaching methodology which is based on mixture of interactive teaching (including class discussions) and promotion of independent personal and group learning through combination of theoretical components, problem-solving and practical experience, aiming at development of knowledge, skills and values needed for successful implementation and participation in managerial/entrepreneurial activities in line with the requirements of constantly changing complex business environment and labour market.

  Business Administration

The objective of this program is to develop students into broadly educated business managers, executives, and entrepreneurs who understand the nature of business as a whole, with the tools and techniques applicable to a wide variety of business situations and issues. The capstone for the MBA program gives students a chance to bring together theories, skills and tools studied during the program and to integrate them into a learning experience that highlights the nature of competition and strategic maneuvering that is necessary for success. Design and methodology of the program aim to provide participants of the program with the skills applicable in real life experiences and to align their professional development with up-to-date changing business environment.

The elaborate foundation of core courses provide students with solid background in business/management field while also broadening their understanding in its sub-fields. The core courses (coded BUSA) are offered alongside the program and enables students to form their knowledge (theoretical and practical)in a way that prepares them for the future success in managerial/administrative positions or in handling entrepreneurial activities.

Elective courses enable students to deepen their understanding of business management and to broaden competencies in selected sub-areas. After completion of all core courses, the program also offers the comprehensive, practical components such as Capstone in Business Development and Entrepreneurship, which provide an opportunity for training in applying acquired knowledge and developing managerial decision-making skills.

Techniques utilized in the course are widely based on a case study approach, including the mixture of interactive teaching (including class discussions) and promotion of independent personal development through a combination of theoretical components, problem-solving and practical experience. The built-in Guest Speaker Seminar Series in almost every course of the program enables program participants to network and interact with the peers and professionals from different sectors of business community. Students will build professional competence in the area of Business and Business Administration and gain knowledge and practical skills in leadership, management, finance/accounting, marketing, and business communications. 

Alternatively, students will acquire knowledge for developing new IT based solutions and improve the existing ones using programming technologies and relational database management systems. The graduates will be competent in the construction of mathematical models and numerical realization of respective computational algorithms. The present new state of the art program, for the modern market, allows unlimited freedom to choose/change major (BBA or BI), minor or shift respective combination to elective courses in different areas even after accomplishing 6th semester. The thorough basis of core courses provides students with solid background in diverse areas of business/management, social science, communication and technical fields broadening their understanding of given areas and their sub-fields. The core courses (coded BIT) are offered along the program and enable students to shape and apply their knowledge and skills (theoretical and practical), for future successful employment in various organizations or entrepreneurial activities. Core courses are offered only to develop competencies needed in both business and IT fields.

Summary

  

 

Southampton where, as an MRC Training Fellow, he did his PhD under Professor Sir George Alberti.  His work at that time investigated metabolic disturbances in liver disease and metabolic aspects of endocrinology. He moved to Newcastle where he was First Assistant to Professor Reg Hall.  He subsequently obtained a Wellcome Senior Clinical Research Fellowship, investigating metabolism in diabetes.
