Blood Bank

Blood components are vital for many patients. That is why the Blood Bank of New Vision University provides an opportunity for you to become a donor for those who need it.

The purpose of this nonprofit program is to:

  • Promote the notion of charitable donation in Georgia;
  • Detect diseases and prevent further complications;
  • Maintain a supply of all blood groups and rhesus components – resulting in more lives being saved!

Every healthy adult can donate blood once every 2 months. Accordingly, approximately 40% of the Georgian population is able to donate blood and to safely enjoy the satisfaction brought by saving other people’s lives.

Simultaneously, the blood bank provides you with a chance to uphold free and confidential analysis, specifically:

  • Complete Blood Count;
  • Hemoglobin;
  • B and C hepatitis;
  • HIV infection (AIDS);
  • Syphilis.

Also to obtain information about your blood group and rhesus factor.

A Round Table Discussion on Legal Regulation of Blood and Blood Components will be held at the NVU Eco Campus (Bokhua 11, Room 316) on October 2nd, 17:00.

Four student presentations will be offered for public debate with following topics:

  • Blood Donation in Georgia – State Policy and Legal Status of Blood Banks, by Ana Korinteli;
  • Experience on Blood Donation in the US, by Sopho Toliashvili;
  • Criminal Law Regulations Related to Blood and Blood Components, by Mariam Tinashvili;
  • World Health Organization Recommendations Related to Blood Donation, by Mariam Tsertsvadze.

Participation is free for anybody interested.   

On June 14, New Vision University Blood Bank celebrated World Blood Donor Day. Volunteers visited the blood bank and after thorough consultation many of them were able to donate blood, thus saving the lives of others.

International Day was further rejoiced by New Vision University students by creating numerous interesting and creative posters on blood donation as well as World Blood Donor Day. With these posters, students shared their views and experiences with the public and encouraged others to donate blood in order to save others.

On June 14, New Vision University Blood Bank visited Aleksandre Aladashvili Clinic in order to acknowledge the World Blood Donor Day. The Clinic’s employees donated blood on charitable terms.

The campaign aimed to increase public awareness about blood donation and to improve access to blood components.

On May 1, Indian students of the School of Medicine celebrated Indian national holiday – Maharashtra Day, with Blood Donation campaign.

In Indian culture, Maharashtra Day is considered as a day for kindness and charity. Therefore, Indian students deemed blood donation campaign to be the best way to express these values and herewith reminded the community about its importance.

On February 16th, the New Vision University Hospital staff initiated the promotional campaign of blood donation. The campaign aims to expand public awareness and to increase access to blood components.

Summary

  

 

Southampton where, as an MRC Training Fellow, he did his PhD under Professor Sir George Alberti.  His work at that time investigated metabolic disturbances in liver disease and metabolic aspects of endocrinology. He moved to Newcastle where he was First Assistant to Professor Reg Hall.  He subsequently obtained a Wellcome Senior Clinical Research Fellowship, investigating metabolism in diabetes.
