Center for Effective Communication and Leadership (CECL) aims to support development and advancement of communication and leadership skills for prevention, management and resolution of disputes, as well as in general, contributes towards the harmonious development of the society.

Main Activities of the Center:

  • The study of human behavior with an aim to enhance individual's self-awareness, promote capacity building and support development of best practices in conflict prevention and resolution;
  • Implementation of educational and practical events contributing to the development of effective communication and leadership skills;
  • Establishment of the forum for the exchange of views and critical discussions.

The aim of the Center is to support Wine Law research.

The main objectives of the Center's activities include:

  • To identify current issues related to the Wine Law, conduct research and support publications;
  • To raise awareness about the Wine Law among academic circles, students and other interested parties;
  • To examine experience of EU and international practice in regards to the regulation of the wine sector and to encourage the format of discussions for comparing them with the Georgian Wine Law;
  • To promote international cooperation and knowledge transfer among academic personnel and practitioner lawyers in Wine Law;
  • To organize conferences and trainings on Wine Law related issues.

Center will conduct researches within the context of Wine Law on topics such as:

  • Wine Production Law - Regulation of technological processes (permitted and prohibited operations);
  • Interlink between Wine and Food Laws;
  • Wine branding and protection of intellectual property rights related to it; legal mechanisms for enforcement of rights protection;
  • Geographical naming of wines, their protection and application control;
  • Wine labeling and consumer protection;
  • Wine quality control and certification;
  • Tax-legal requirements for wine production;
  • Wine trade and trade barriers;
  • Responsibility for violation of wine legislation.

The Center for European & Euro-Atlantic Studies (CEEAS) is policy-research organization concentrated on the issues of European, Euro-Atlantic, geopolitical and regional security studies as well as international relations and development. CEEAS pays particular attention to the high quality of its products and outputs, achieved through the strictly meritocratic selection of personnel, intensive international cooperation with the best international think tanks and research organizations, and by regular evaluation of its activities from independent experts and auditors. The mission of the Centre is to provide research and academic services to state and non-state actors with an aim to effect respective policy decisions and implementation procedures within EU- and NATO-member as well as prospective member states. In addition, within the framework of its interests and expertise, CEEAS intends to contribute to the education and training of student corps from both EU- and NATO-member as well as membership-aspirant countries at graduate and post-graduate levels.

The research area of the CEEAS encompasses political, economic, foreign, security, strategic and public policy studies, with primary emphasis on the following topics:

  • Georgia’s relations with the European Union and the NATO;
  • The process of Georgia’s Europeanization and integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic institutions;
  • Georgia’s participation in international security-related activities and defense cooperation and its relations with neighboring countries;
  • Security developments in Georgia and the South Caucasus region;
  • Georgia's international trade and economic ties with other countries and international financial institutions as well as international trade and foreign direct investments into Georgian economy with emphasis on Euro-Atlantic value system;
  • International cooperation in the areas of education, science and technology.

The main activities undertaken by CEEAS aims to:

  • Monitor, research and analyze policies, programs, and projects related to the region;
  • Disseminate information through publishing books, brochures, and periodicals;
  • Provide forecasts, policy papers, public policy recommendations along with the consultancy and other expert services to various state and non-state actors;
  • Organize seminars and roundtables on related subjects;

**When appropriate, CEEAS undertakes activities in regards to the education sector through internship (local and international) projects or by involvement in the educational activities at the NVU, as it is center's priority to help talented young researchers and analysts to realize their creative potential fully.

The mission of the NVU Business Consulting Office is to assist clients to build, compete, and grow in the marketplace by making permanent and significant improvements in overall performance. It aims to help companies achieve their goals in the areas of business management, leadership, finance and marketing.

The concept behind consolidating NVU Business Consulting Office within the NVU is to provide business students an opportunity to master the components gained through academic studies and transfer it into practice. It ensures extension of the student’s knowledge by working on a real life business scenarios.

A collaboration of university students and a business leaders creates a unique opportunity for students and clients alike; students gain experience of working on a business projects and clients get their work perfected at a reasonable consultancy fee.

Summary

  

 

Southampton where, as an MRC Training Fellow, he did his PhD under Professor Sir George Alberti.  His work at that time investigated metabolic disturbances in liver disease and metabolic aspects of endocrinology. He moved to Newcastle where he was First Assistant to Professor Reg Hall.  He subsequently obtained a Wellcome Senior Clinical Research Fellowship, investigating metabolism in diabetes.
