1. Internationalization of educational programs

To timely address quickly changing local and international challenges, NVU sees ever increasing potential in the internationalization of educational programs. With a view to internationalization of programs, NVU promotes programs development through the introduction of international approaches and teaching methodology, involvement of foreign teachers in educational process, attraction of foreign students, accessibility of contemporary foreign-language literature, opportunities of international mobility, degree of compatibility with internationally recognized qualifications.

Success indicators: number of foreign staff involved in program development, number of students enrolled for the programs; number of students and staff participating in international mobility; positive opinions/reports of the experts; employment rate and further studying of graduates abroad.

2. Research internationalization

NVU promotes the development of research and innovations and accords particular importance to high quality of research, what, in the opinion of the University, can be attained through the development of research infrastructure compatible with international standards for scholars and Internationalization of Program Implementation of international good practice Foreign staff involved in the program Foreign students taking programs International mobility of students and staff Contemporary foreign-language literature International recognition of qualification 3 researchers, cooperation with international research centers/organizations, participation of research staff in exchange programs, implementation of joint research projects.

Success indicators: index of publication of papers in international refereed scientific journals; index of citation of academic staff in international databases; joint research projects.

3. Development of joint programs/projects

NVU regards the implementation of joint international programs and projects as an instrument for the development and expansion of cooperation with international partners in strategically important for it fields, like: education, law, medicine, politics and international relations, business and information technologies.

Cooperation with Ukrainian universities is of top priority what is conditioned by public interest and close political links. Consequently, NVU promotes the development of legal education and educational system in general in Ukraine for strengthening western values in educational institutions.

Long-term strategy provides for the development of double and dual degree academic programs until 2024, what is duly supported by the Academic Board.

NVU started cooperation with successful corporations of various countries through launching cooperation with Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (Germany) and Shimatsu corporation and Kyoto University (Japan). NVU plans to implement similar joint projects with international partners in future as well, what requires high standards of project management. Due to this reason the Steering Committee and Project Management Office (EPMO) were set up in the University.

Success indicators: number of joint programs, number of joint projects, impact of the outcomes of joint programs and projects on the development of respective fields/sectors; added value for the University.

4. Introduction of modern technologies

Pursuant to its mission, NVU promotes the implementation of innovations, what inter alia implies the application of modern technologies in teaching-learning, research and organizational management processes. NVU believes that integration into international networks and introduction of modern technologies in university processes means institutional progress and provides for high level of integration into international space.

Success indicators: outcome and progress attained as a result of introduction of modern technologies.

Summary

  

 

Southampton where, as an MRC Training Fellow, he did his PhD under Professor Sir George Alberti.  His work at that time investigated metabolic disturbances in liver disease and metabolic aspects of endocrinology. He moved to Newcastle where he was First Assistant to Professor Reg Hall.  He subsequently obtained a Wellcome Senior Clinical Research Fellowship, investigating metabolism in diabetes.
