International profile

1. Membership of international organizations and networks

NVU Law School and School of Medicine are the members of relevant European associations. The Law School has been a member of European Law Faculty Association (ELFA) since 2015, and the School of Medicine joined European Medical School Association (AMSE) in 2017 and also became a member of Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) in 2018.

Furthermore, the University considers it reasonable to become a member of the International Association of Universities and European Association of Universities. The preparatory works for lodging application is already under way with regard to the first one, while the membership of the other one will become possible after the fifth cohort of the University, i.e. in 2021.

2. Integration of the University in international ranking systems

For better integration into international scientific and educational space NVU plans integration into international ranking system.

3. International accreditation of programs

International accreditation of educational programs is a strategic priority and is regarded as the mechanism promoting maintenance of quality culture and international recognition of the University.

In 2018 University re-accredited educational program in Medicine under the participation of foreign experts and was the first amongst Georgian universities to receive accreditation compatible with the requirements of the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME).

NVU plans to have the other educational programs internationally accredited as well.

4. Social engagement and social responsibility sharing

NVU encourages individuals to further improve and shares their knowledge, skills and values for public benefit, to what end it employs internationalization as a tool of attainment of civil involvement, fair cooperation and social responsibility at global level.

NVU appreciates and respects students and staff for any contribution they made to public welfare, both at local and international level.

Success indicator: projects implemented in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR); outcomes, number of beneficiaries.

Summary

  

 

Southampton where, as an MRC Training Fellow, he did his PhD under Professor Sir George Alberti.  His work at that time investigated metabolic disturbances in liver disease and metabolic aspects of endocrinology. He moved to Newcastle where he was First Assistant to Professor Reg Hall.  He subsequently obtained a Wellcome Senior Clinical Research Fellowship, investigating metabolism in diabetes.
